This is one of my favourite places in Australia: Pulpit Rock in the Blue Mountains. It’s a bit of a mission to find but well worth it.
.
The whole region is full of tracks and paths that lead to phenomenal vistas, canyons and waterfalls.
.
With small towns, Airbnb’s and family run bed and breakfasts pocketed around the region, it’s one of the best places to pack a small bag and get away from the hustle and bustle of Sydney for a weekend.
.
The mountains change colour at sunrise and sunset, hence the name of the region. Already looking forward to a return trip!

I recently went to the uniquely wondrous Sir Bani Yas Island in the Middle East: a sprawling nature reserve channeling the best of Africa, with remarkable wildlife protection, conservation efforts and safari drives!

Situated 2.5 hours drive and a 30 minute boat trip from Abu Dhabi, do not let this opportunity pass you by!
.
We stayed in the Savannah-inspired lodge called Al Sahel, a sizeable villa with private outdoor pool that allows photography of the animals up close. Too often the curiosity overwhelms them and they come confidently sauntering up to your abode! Be prepared to meet sand and Reem gazelles, peacocks, bush turkeys and spotted deer.

Found myself at the top of Jebel Hafeet on the first night of the recent Eid break in UAE.
.
Located near Al Ain, about an hour’s drive from Abu Dhabi, you’ll find yourself on the land border overlooking Oman. The rugged towering mountain shapes are incredible and the colours in the sky at sunset are remarkable.
.
Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area!

Another brilliant hiking adventure in the Western Cape of South Africa: Jonkershoek Nature Reserve.

We crossed snow and ice, bushveld, rocky outcrops and even past some cute little snowmen. Taking photos in the various rock formations was great fun.

Cape Town is a beautiful and amazing city. It’s all about aesthetics: from the stunning Table Mountain to the gorgeous wine farms and waterscapes to the beautiful people. My best advice though... get away from the city centre and experience the true beauty: outdoor adventures, hiking, small towns and vibrant flowers.

My last post on the Seychelles is up! This one centres around Mahé, the largest island within the archipelago and home to its capital, Victoria.

Covid has messed about with us all but especially the Seychelles who are heavily reliant on tourism. Word on the street is that they are likely to be accepting tourists again come mid March, once they have vaccinated at least 75% of the population!

This post in particular focuses on Covid-friendly activities which do not involve large crowds yet still allow you to see much of the island through hikes, viewpoints and activities.

I spent 2 weeks on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi being totally mesmerised by the sunrises!
.
The views from Yas Rotana over the F1 track are just phenomenal and would be a prime hotel to stay at during the races later this year. (Non sponsored post!).

The UAE has the most amazing skies and I will especially remember this one which I captured from the balcony one morning. It was as if the clouds were holding the sun in place. What a pity the sun kept moving up!

The Bolivian salt flats are the most amazing (and world’s largest!) and provide some really fun photos if you bring along even some simple props. This was quite a few years ago but I’ve got memories of me popping out of a beer bottle, being attacked by a plastic T-Rex toy & being peer pressured into reenacting the Kirsten Dunst upside down kiss with a Spider-Man toy. 😂

My tour group affectionately became known as the ‘Wall Lickers’ after we decided to take some tequila to our salt hotel ... and ... well ... 🤷🏼‍♀️

The buffet is one of the most extensive I’ve ever seen in my life! It’s not just limited to seafood either, you can choose succulent sirloin steaks, luscious lamb roast and even have a personalised traditional thin crust margarita pizza whipped up before your very eyes. For those with a sweet tooth, don’t miss the candy floss!

Abu Dhabi in the UAE is a completely refreshing surprise; with beautifully sculpted gardens, lawns, water features and of course ... decorative palms! The city has many regions where long walks are possible and there has been a concerted effort to make life enjoyable for nationals and expats.

If you are traveling to Abu Dhabi, make sure it’s in the winter months when the cooler temperature allows you to fully explore the region, including the outdoors!

The Hawksbill Turtle is critically endangered after decades of poachers hunting their beautiful shells.
.
The largest populations of Hawksbills are found in the Caribbean, the Seychelles, Indonesia and Australia.
.
We were incredibly fortunate to see this beautiful female Hawksbill turtle coming in to nest at Cousin Island in the Seychelles.
.
Cousin Island is the one of the world’s largest island reserves and can be visited as a day trip from Praslin Island.

An incredible treat awaits on Port Jackson (‘Sydney Harbour’). Old school sailing ships are available for a dusk tour with a buffet food and drinks package. A select few can climb the mast and stand in the galley at the top, purveying the seas and the land as Captain James Cook would have done as he sailed in so many years ago.

The seas they are a’rocky and the top platform it is a’swayin! One of the best moments of my life was up here watching life down below!

It’s taken a long time to write this Goliath post! Praslin Island in the Seychelles is incredible: a paradise replete with beauty, luxe resorts, boutique accommodation, Aldabra tortoises and the chance to see the famous Coco de Mer coconuts in their natural state!

It’s also the departure point for many island hopping day trips.
.
Praslin is a destination in itself, although many people fly in to the main island of Mahé and don’t explore elsewhere. Don’t make this mistake. 🥰

Breakfast! The most important meal of the day!

I’m certainly going to miss these Seychellois breakfasts: fresh tropical fruits and juice, crepes, eggs any way one pleases (Spanish omelette please), meats, cheeses, yoghurt, sausages, mushrooms and a selection of breads. We’ve had to do at least a hike a day to keep the gluttony at bay!
.
In all seriousness though, there’s nothing quite like waking up to a deluxe meal to start your day. Seychelles for the holiday win! This pic take on New Years morning ... definitely in need of a quality pick me up 😂👌🏼

We have travelled around the Seychelles trialling different modes of accommodation. Options include various resorts, boutique hotels and now we are on to self catering accommodation at the highly rated Villas de Jardin in Port Glaud, Mahé.
.
Pros: impeccable view, secluded, Covid safe, no wake up time to get to breakfast, 100m^2 sized villas, drinks on the balcony overlooking the bay.
.
Cons: breakfast not included: that’s it! (Luckily we stocked up on breakfast bacon and sausages at ISPC and local eggs, cheese, tomatoes and mushrooms with fresh fruit and yoghurt for starters!!)
.

Life’s quite cruisy here in Praslin! Found quite possibly one of the most beautiful beaches in Côte d’Or where we enjoyed fresh seafood and botanical G&Ts at Cafe des Artes. Highly recommend!
